The Opae ula shrimp Forum and online store

I'm looking around for a "tank" for the shrimp. I did read that they like to swim around. All nano tanks come with things I don't need. I saw this two gallon cookie jar. What do you think? Do you think that it would contain crystal or lead or that it would be safe for the shrimp? Someday I'll make up my mind.

Looks perfect Ann, just be sure to leave a small gap in the lid so oxygen can pass into the tank, or remove the lid and replace it every other day to let fresh oxygen in.

These guys have bred and sold Opae ula for years and years Link: http://www.fukubonsai.com/micro-lobster.html and they always use jars like the one you posted, there isnt much Fuku Bonsai don't know about the Opae ula shrimp so i would say your shrimp will be in good hands with a jar

Not sure how fast i would get evaporation loss with no lid at all though lol.

They are very pretty. Do you think that 20cm is big enough? Would a nano tank be better? Would like to find one without all the paraphernalia that they add. I don't want their filters, lights or anything else added. Most of their stuff is inferior and not needed.

Hey, a nano tank would be better because they have a lid to reduce evaporation and stop dust and stuff falling in. 20x20x20cm equates to 10 litres (2.6 gallon) I was just looking at cheap alternatives but you can't go wrong with a proper tank, which come in that size too.

absolutely you can.

Do you think that the lights would be strong enough to grow algae. It becomes very hot in the summer and I don't dare place them near or even slightly close to a window. We have central air and I would depend on the tank lights to produce algae.

i dont see you having issues, if it really struggles though you can always feed them algae powder
