I really like that, im sure the shrimps do too as there is lots of dark hiding spots to breed in. You can buy larvae traps but i have no experience with them, i've got a glass shrimp catcher that could also work with larvae but i've never tried it, the adults don't fall for the shrimp catcher though

Nice. Did you always had the mini canister? Is that causing the stress for her to molt?

Yes i've always had the canister filter. I dampen the flow by aiming the out tube upwards towards the glass. It creates abit more flow at the surface but it keeps the lower part of the tank relatively calm. I dont think it bothers the shrimps much as i've had quite a few successful broods before. I only added the breeder box at the side because while cleaning the filter recently i discovered some baby shrimps living in there, which meant that they were probably sucked in as larvae.

The mother only molted after i caught her and put her ito the breeder's box. She was perfectly fine in the main tank ;)

I tried looking for some larvae traps at my lfs but cldnt find any. In the end i thought it wld be more efficient to just throw the mom into the box until she dropped the babies, didnt think abt the possibility of a stress molt.

I actually tried putting another gravid mom into the box after that, thinking it might have been the first shrimp being an inexperienced mom and dropping her eggs due to a little stress, but then i saw the 2nd shrimp pushing herself out of the water to rest at the overflow return of the breeder's box and I was like "aw man, what am i doing to these poor mothers"

Here is an interesting concept for a larvae trap:

I've purchased this which could be a good box to use for larvae inside the tank,

There are a few options available.

That is a interesting concept and I think it might work because I noticed that Opae Ula larvae are attracted to light.

How is the dake box? Are the holes small enough to prevent larvae from escaping out?

@velvetundergrad It seems very good, the only holes i would be concerned about are the bottom ones and that is because if the larvae were perfectly strait and not moving they would *maybe* fit though just at a guess but it looks very unlikely. Opae ula related suggested putting a very think layer of substrate on the bottom to stop that issue.
