Hi, I've had my shrimp for nearly a year now, my Salinity was 1.015 at beginning and just topped of with bottled water when needed. Checked salinity today and it's 1.005. I though the salt would never change ??

Do you have salt creep on the top of your tank? Also what type of measuring device are you using to measure the salinity?

No salt creep and using a salinity refractometer.

Have you calibrated it? That should be done before every use.

Had 2 berried shrimp last week and saw some floating things other week too, but just concerned that salt to low now

How do I calibrate it please

I wouldn’t worry, just let it evaporate again then mix some brackish water to match it then pour it in.

Ok just calibrated it, it was slightly out, but still only 1.008 now instead of 1.005

I’m not sure how it dropped but 1.008 will be ok, don’t worry.
