The brush algea all has a group connect at one point. Look at the 10th picture with the pointed white rock. It's like a bush with one stem point. It can grow close together but it's still in groups. If you pull some off it will still kinda stay in groups. If it's not in a group it's probally just hair algea.

Yeah, it connects and I know it is not algae hair. Do you happen to have a picture of what you had?

Sorry so long to respond. No it was years ago. But your pictures you atrached ID it pretty well. It started out spotty and around edges of plants but ended up taking over everything. Like in last picture with fish. Had really cool flow movement with the filter return flow. Mesmerising to watch. Just looked at ur tank picture and yours is tangled. Mine and the pictures you added is not tangled. Not sure if that is from no water movement in you tank.
